The IBMA Kenya KWS Licensing Working Group convened to review progress, challenges, and strategic direction in its ongoing engagements with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) who are key regulators of microorganisms used in biocontrol.

▪️ Updates on deliberations on Prior Informed Consent (PIC) and Mutually Agreed Terms (MAT), particularly around royalty and intellectual property fees
▪️ Identification of regulatory stalemates and bottlenecks affecting trade and innovation
▪️ A focused dialogue on negotiating standardized and fair fee structures that support a thriving organic input sector 🌱
The working group is working towards achieving a harmonized licensing framework that balances regulatory oversight with commercial viability ensuring that all players, especially local manufacturers, can operate in an enabling business environment.
